Open Schools Worldwide

Type of Position: Volunteer Opportunity

Position Title: Executive Director

Description:

Due to the retirement of the current post holder, Open Schools Worldwide is seeking a gifted leader to lead and further develop this unique mission serving the world’s most marginalized children.

The person appointed will:

  • Have demonstrable executive and management skills, preferably having held a leadership position in education or mission
  • Have a heart and vision for vulnerable disadvantaged children
  • Have experience of cross cultural service
  • Be open to new concepts, technology, and innovative non-traditional education delivery models
  • Be a seconded missionary or able to raise their own financial support, operate from a home office and travel frequently (all expenses paid)

In many countries, orphans and vulnerable children are denied access to formal schooling because they cannot pay the fees and/or buy uniforms and books. Even when they do attend school, they may fail to succeed and drop out early because they lack appropriate support. OSWW has developed a “School-in-a-Bag” to help these children learn. We train and support volunteer tutors from our partner organizations (churches, Christian schools and NGOs) to bring our “School-in-a-Bag” to small groups of hurting children at safe and easily accessible centers. We help these children deal with the trauma they have faced and share the Good News of God’s love for them.

“Bringing hope through life changing learning today, and in sharing the Gospel, changing life for eternity”
