Casa Viva

Casa Viva believes children need families.  In partnership with local churches in developing nations, Casa Viva prepares and supports Christian foster families to care for children in their own homes.  Casa Viva is both implementing our family based model in Costa Rica, and encouraging others to move toward family solutions for children in developing nations by providing interested groups with training and tools.

Casa Viva’s model begins with a local church that develops a foster care ministry in their church.  Casa Viva’s professional staff trains the recruited families.  Through a partnership with the national government, children are identified and placed in the homes.  Casa Viva always starts short term with every child, and develops a personalized permanence plan for each child.  Our first priority is to reunite the child to his or her own biological or extended family if that can become a healthy alternative for the children.  If reunification is not an option, we pursue national adoption or long term foster care for the child.

Casa Viva’s key distinctives include:

  1. Children connected to local families.
  2. Ministry based in the local church.
  3. National financial self-sustainability.
