The Most Unexpected Orphan Sunday Event

Amidst the blur of final Orphan Sunday prep, a remarkable report  on one final addition to the global event map just came in from Maryland’s Regional Coordinator, Jeromy Smith.  The event will led by a man named Jamie, who is serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison.  A group of inmates will be meeting tomorrow to pray for the fatherless and other Orphan Sunday events.  They just received the official “approval notice” so they registered it on the map.

As Jeromy wrote, “Nobody knows the importance of a father– and the impact of NOT having one– more than men in a maximum security prison.  I am so inspired by this Prison Fellowship, praying alongside us as equals before the throne of God.”

I love it! This brought tears to my eyes! My husband and I are sitting by the fire, preparing our final words for our Orphan Sun service tomorrow. What a blessing to know that we will be joined by these brothers in prayer tomorrow!

I’ll be going to Kenya next week to work on a fish-raising project in one of the areas around Nairobi. This same man, Jamie, has written a letter from a prisoner to prisoners . I will be reading that to the men in one of the prisons in Kenya where I pray many will hear the good news and accept the Lord. Everett Smith

So true. The impact of NOT having a father is impossible to calculate. Wow! So many orphans probably end up dead or in prison at a very young age.
